I was surprised just how much the mock inspection managed to cover within a week. The inspection included a full review of our documentation and performance, workshops with managers, staff and key stakeholders, and mystery shopping exercises.
Both the strengths and weaknesses within the service were quickly identified and evidenced in a full and detailed report – received within a week of the conclusion of the inspection. I am happy to recommend this service to anyone and would be pleased to provide references.
With an inspection by the Audit Commission being a very real possibility for Bristol we had already undertaken a significant amount of work to self assess our Service against the framework. The next logical step was to gain an independent assessment and a health check of our approach to self assessment.
Whilst the process was challenging it enabled some clarity for specific areas that needed additional focus and provided a fresh view on the direction we are heading. The process of engaging Meritec has also provided additional evidence that we are serious about improving our Service and delivering benefits for our community.
The team delivered their feedback in a constructive and positive way and tested all of us in how we view ourselves and how we perceive our Service. We have already delivered some of the key recommendations and put in place improvement action plans with the confidence that we are investing the right levels of resource in the right areas of the business at the right time!
I asked Meritec to carry out a mock inspection because I wanted to validate our view on how we compared with the KLOE’s. I wanted an outcome that gave us a clear picture and challenged us where we could not demonstrate the service was working effectively and I was not disappointed.
I was impressed with the way Meritec tackled the inspection and with their overall knowledge of benefits and their understanding of the inspection regime. The onsite work was thorough combining a review of our aims and objectives and the way we delivered the key elements of the service with manager and staff sessions and some mystery shopping.
Their report was clear and factual and gave us a series of recommendations to inform our actions plans. The mock inspection did exactly what I asked and was very good value.
The consultants I have worked with from Meritec have all been very helpful and friendly, with lots of very useful and up to date information on the new inspection regime. Their time has been invaluable to us to in assisting with our development of the service and knowledge-sharing of experience of the work of the Audit Commission. I would happily recommend Meritec services to others.
I would recommend the Meritec Mock Inspection to anyone. At South Gloucestershire we had done quite a lot of work on KLOE self assessment and Meritec gave us confidence in what we had done as well as opening our eyes to some really critical areas that we may have missed.
The service was excellent value and has helped us to refocus our plans and address key areas. We enjoyed and valued the experience so much, that we have asked Meritec to come back in December to repeat the process.
North Yorkshire Authorities, Group Self Assessment - January to March of 2009 we carried out comprehensive KLOE reviews for eight North Yorkshire authorities working as a single group - we also did group work with seven Lancashire Councils and five Cumbrian Councils. All of these projects resulted in successful outcomes for the clients and offered particularly good value for money through working together.
Meritec provided a valuable service helping us prepare for an inspection in February 2009. They correctly predicted how the service would be scored and gave vital insight into our position regarding the KLOE. After the inspection we chose to work with them again to help resolve some of the action points raised. Meritec are well informed and easy to work with and I would recommend their KLOE service.
